How does someone choose a professional coach?
It’s no secret that there are many “coaches” out there that may or may not have your best interest at heart. Often we can misplace our trust, money and time with the wrong person, only to find out later the only person they are trying to help is themselves.
So what can you do to protect yourself, get the support you need and feel confident in the coaching choice you’ve made?
I turned to Coach Charrise, a long time twitter friend and part of my own positive posse, for 3 tips on how to choose a professional coach.
- First, you want to ask yourself how deep you’d like the work to be. There are so many coaches out there with varying skill sets. Some are more strategic, some more spiritual, and some who will put in question everything about your life.
- Second, seek a coach who has done the work you’d like to do. For example, if you want to shift your relationship to money, you don’t want to work with a coach whose practice is financially struggling.
- And third, seek a deep connection. For the relationship to work, extreme trust is necessary. Tap into your instincts and decide if this is someone you can learn to trust.
As Coach Charrise points out :
When we realize that commitment, conviction + courage are the ultimate currency, we budget and allocate resources on an entirely different level. Call it spiritual. Call it enlightened. Or just call it liberation.
It’s your call. It’s your life. It’s your legacy.
Live like nothing is broken.
