Recipe : Pee Dee Orchard Peach Tea

Danielle Hatfield's Pee Dee Orchard Peach Tea Recipe

My husband and I love to shop at local farmers markets. What do I enjoy the most? First, I love meeting the farmers and vendors who show up. I have met some amazing folks and we continue to change our diets to support more locally sourced food and the families that grow it. It reminds me of growing up on a farm in rural South Carolina. (no livestock, all veggies!) Another reason is that I really enjoy creating and sharing new recipes.

So far this season, I have been waiting patiently for peaches to show up at the The Corner Market here in Greensboro and I finally lucked out! If you haven’t ever been to this farmers market, please make time to visit. This market is open Saturday’s from 8am to noon **All year – January through December**  (I love that part!) In my opinion, the corner of Walker and South Elam Avenue is the best place to be on a Saturday morning. Be sure to come hungry and enjoy the most amazing breakfast at Sticks and Stones before you shop.

Now, initially I thought of making my favorite brunch recipe ‘Southern Sunday fried peaches’ with my basket of peaches- but I decided to enjoy these as a snack throughout the week and in this backyard sipper of a cocktail recipe.

I was really inspired to create this tasty treat as a refreshing reward for a full day of yard work. It’s definitely a cocktail that would be perfect for your summer get togethers and the only thing that could make it more amazing is to enjoy it frozen. You can use either vodka or rum with this if you want an adult alcoholic beverage. . . and don’t forget that it’s just as tasty and refreshing sans the alcohol. Regardless of how you choose to make this – I think soaking the cut peaches in vanilla adds a little something special.

If you live in North Carolina and LOVE peaches as much as I do, be sure to visit this family-owned peach stand and orchards. Pee Dee Orchard, located in Lilesvile N.C.,  is open from mid-May to mid-October, from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and they offer some of the states best peaches and homemade peach ice cream!

I sure hope you enjoy this recipe. Be sure to let me know what you think and share a photo!

My next #FurnitureRestoration project! 😍 This My next #FurnitureRestoration project! 😍

This gorgeous carved #RockingChair is in need of some serious TLC.

Someone had the brilliant idea of using screws instead of replacing the dowel on the arm. That decision led to many problems including a decorative piece on the broken arm that snapped.

I’m so fortunate that this beautifully carved chair made its way into my life. (I think it’s walnut wood)

It’s been a few years since I’ve restored anything and I miss the peaceful ritual of bringing a once broken piece back to life.

I often wonder about the people who made furniture like this and who it was made for.

I imagine this rocking chair near a window on a sunny day - the perfect spot to knit, sew, or read a book. ❤️

Our small #CottageGarden is slowly waking up from its winter slumber and I can’t wait to see all of the blooms this year.

with a mix of flowers, herbs, grasses, and vegetables.
