I recently came across an ad from Toyota in an issue of Fortune magazine that made me rip it out and add it to my Blog Post folder. The ad was sharing a story from Sergio Monserrate. Now I can honestly say that I am on the fence about whether or not he is a real person. (it would have been great to add his twitter handle/website URL to the ad to allay doubts or at least link to a youtube URL sharing his story) – but the idea behind this ad is solid.
The fact is . . . we all have a story, Toyota owner or not.
What caught my attention about the ad was this. . . MPG = My Personal Goals. We all have them. And hopefully we have a plan to reach our personal goals. Ultimately, it’s important that we never lose sight of what we want to accomplish.
This ad made me think of my husband, who proudly paid off his Toyota last year. For him, like Sergio in the ad, this Toyota was his first brand new vehicle.
But what happens when you complete a goal? There is this ‘now what?’ that fills the vacuum where the inertia to reach the goal once was.
To me, the answer to the ‘now what?’ question when we reach a goal is : INCREASE YOUR MPG!
Shift gears and continue the journey. And as Toyota says, keep ‘moving forward’.
