I admit to watching season one and two of House of Cards on Netflix more than once. In fact I’m watching it for the 4th 6th 8th time now and I keep finding hints of fashion that I have missed. To say that I am inspired by the simplicity and elegance of the clothing and accessories of the character Claire Underwood is an understatement.
It’s taken me more time than I’d like to admit to research and find all of these patterns. (Let’s not even talk about all the screen shots!)
I know some of you are scratching your heads wondering who the hell has time to sew their own clothes. It’s not that I have the time, it’s that I am making the time. Besides who can say no to getting a compliment in a great fitting sheath dress that YOU made? I didn’t think so.
What inspired me was the fact that I want clothes that fit ME. I have always had to let out, take in or some how alter my clothing (even before I gained weight). If I am going to rethink my wardrobe and go even more minimalist, than I intend to sew or alter them myself.
