This morning my husband and I were having coffee and watching a video on youtube. Shocker right? Well, as the next video of food blogger YoYoMax12 began playing and said husband began shrieking *noooooo* and la la laing to himself to drown out the infectious ear worm of a theme song, I noticed that this wasn’t one of her usual artery clogging recipes. Seriously, it’s the diet free zone and I love how simple her instructions are. If you have kids or husbands that are kids at heart you will love her recipes. But this video was different. . . not like the reindeer bread bites or zombie coffins I was used to.
So what does a food blogger have to do with beauty boxes? Well, the in the video we watched she was opening up their monthly Loot Crate with her son Max and I was inspired to google a few things targeted more towards my interest – beauty products was one of them. . . bada bing, bada boom and here we are – discussing beauty box subscriptions like old friends.
I’m curious, are there any perks to having your dressing table drawers bursting with an abundance of new and existing products you may never fully finish using vs a select few grooming items you have committed to and use regularly? That’s a tough question for me. I can see how amazing it would be to get a gift in the mail every month with girly products to use and review. . . but I also see the waste stream I would be creating with all of the packaging and seriously wonder how challenging it would be to recycle. Hrrrm.
I’ve never had a subscription so I’m writing about all of the beauty boxes I am investigating. If you have a subscription to one, please let me know in the comments below. I’d love to hear your experience and whether or not they are worth it.
Here are the beauty boxes I’m looking at for gift ideas:
Both Men’s and Women’s gift box options. If you aren’t interested in the monthly subscription, you can take a look at their best seller boxes for a one off gift.
Curated brands fill these women’s beauty boxes that are delivered monthly. I love the simplicity of the gift boxes and of course the color!
- Ipsy (formerly known as My Glam)
Apparently they come highly recommended by top YouTube makeup folks and I distinctly remember a few friends on Facebook posting about this one.
The Glam bag comes monthly and is an affordable at 10.00 a month.
I just created my profile there (love that idea! it kept me on the site) and created my first board 30’s Hollywood Glam inspired by Carole Lombard. It would be amazing if there were a way I could embed these boards on my website much like a Pinterest board. *just a hint y’all!
Did I miss any beauty box brands that should be on this list? Is there one that delivers products you actually use and love? Leave a comment below!
