The Social Media Land Grab and Why It’s Important to Your Brand

Setting up Reddit account so I can do an AMA. Thank you to the turd who is already using my name. See how that’s a problem?

— Nathan Fillion (@NathanFillion) August 2, 2012

I was poking around Reddit a while back and stumbled upon this picture of a tweet made my one of my favorite actors, Nathan Fillion.  Nathan just happened to be interested in doing an AMA (ask me anything) but could not get his name because of a name squatter. He opted to do what most of us, who didn’t get in on the social media land grab, are forced to. . . come up with a clever alternative username.

Remember, that even if you may or may not use a social site – it’s always a good idea to signup and secure your user name so that when you’re ready . . . . you don’t have to settle for anything less than true brand consistency.
